Dibrugarh

'Tea City of India'
Famous for being the largest tea exporting town in India, Dibrugarh, the major tea producer, is a paradise indeed for nature lovers. Aside from greenery, the economic brilliance, the adventurous activities, the rich tradition, and the history of a flourishing land after earthquake and flood – all the pleasures are here to present you with an unforgettable vacation.
One of the oldest cities lying on Brahmaputra River banks, Dibrugarh is popularly referred to as the 'Tea City of India'. With oil and timber industries in and around, the city today is known to be one of the important commercial hubs of Assam and a promising industrial market of Northeastern India. Part of Assam's northern border, Dibrugarh's fresh air fun amid lush tea gardens is a popular travel attraction. Dibrugarh, emerging as a unique tourist destination, has gained a broad appreciation for communication, health, education, and oil, natural gas, silk and power production, apart from the tea plantation.
Although the mighty Brahmaputra is the lifeline of Assam, association with the river has not been very easy all the time. When pouring out its rage, the Brahmaputra is more a curse than a boon for the entire northeast region. The year 1950 came to cast a spell. The Brahmaputra River changed its course due to the Medog earthquake that measured more than 8.6 on the Richter Scale. Dibrugarh survived massive destruction and lost nearly 75% of the city to the flood. It not only changed the landscape but the lives of the people forever. The story of recovery has been a challenging but inspiring one.
