Hee-Barmiok

An Unspoilt Rural Sikkim
Hee Gaon or Hee-Bermiok at 1800 meters in the rural belt of West Sikkim has been developed as a new tourist destination with its breathtaking natural beauties. The Limboo community, the original tribes of Sikkim, has their unique traditional culture and lifestyles. An encounter with the community proves highly experiential for the people seeking ethnic rural exposure in Sikkim.
Four rivers and streams bound Hee Gaon on all sides with a gorgeous view of Kanchenjunga. Lamas' chanting in the monasteries, prayer wheels and colourful prayer flags fluttering in the air and land dominated by legends and myths mark this pristine village's landscape. Hee Gaon is rich in agriculture with its cardamom field and vegetable farms and is declared the first Organic Village in Sikkim. With several short treks, warm hospitality of the local people, and colourful festivals throughout the year, Hee is emerging as a prime destination for rural tourism in Sikkim.
Bounded by Kalej Khola and Reshi Khola – the two major mountain streams in the area, Hee-Bermiok villages are the primary agricultural area in western Sikkim. The terraced agricultural fields in the backdrop of snowy mountains with scattered houses present a beautiful scenic vista as you drive along the village road.
